Frequently Asked Questions
Should I twist my earrings while they heal?
No. This is outdated advice. Twisting the earring tears the fragile healing tissue (fistula) inside the hole, restarting the healing process and introducing bacteria. Leave the earring completely alone and just spray it with saline.
When can I stop wearing earrings?
For the first year, you should wear earrings 24/7. Lobe piercings can shrink or close up in as little as 24 hours if left empty during the first 6 months. After a year, you can usually leave them out for a few days, but long-term closure is still possible.
