Round brilliants sparkle. Emerald cuts glow. With their long lines and "hall of mirrors" effect, emerald cut diamond studs are sophisticated, elegant, and a bit more unique than the standard round stud.
Buying Guide
1. Clarity is Critical
Emerald cuts have a large, open table (top surface). They do not hide inclusions well.
- Recommendation: Stick to VS2 or higher. In a round diamond, you can get away with SI1, but in an emerald cut, you might see the black spots.
2. Matching is Harder
Unlike round diamonds which are standardized, emerald cuts vary in their length-to-width ratio. Some are square (Asscher-like), some are long rectangles.
When buying earrings, you need a matched pair. The diamonds must have the same ratio, or one will look fat and the other skinny.
3. Orientation
How do you wear them?
- Vertical (North-South): The classic look. Elongates the earlobe.
- Horizontal (East-West): A modern, edgy twist.
Where to Buy
We recommend Blue Nile or Blue Nile because they allow you to view the actual diamonds in 360-degree HD. This is the only way to ensure your emerald cuts match perfectly before you buy.
